MORE CAPACITY SMALLER LIGHTER FOOTPRINT

Here at The 12 Volt Shop we offer a range of custom made Australian Designed and Engineered LiFePO4 Lithium Battery options. Our aim is to get the most capacity in the smallest area possible so we do not use the same footprint cases as existing Lead-Acid Batteries.

Take our 163S LiFePO4 Lithium Battery for example, using a 70Ah AGM Battery footprint sitting at 260 x 168 x 210mm is a lot smaller than even 100Ah batteries on the market which all use similar footprints at 305 x 165 x 215mm.

At 15Kg the 163S is 1/3 of the weight of its AGM equivalent

SMART PHONE MONITORNING

The 12 Volt Shop range of LiFePO4 Batteries are equiped with Bluetooth BMS's so you can monitor your battery status from your Smart Phone or Device. Download the App on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store

IP67 MARINE RATED UNDER BONNET WATERPROOF BATTERY

The 163S is sealed from water and dust ingress so can be mounted anywhere including under the bonnet. With an impressive IP67 rating this battery can be fully submersed in water up to 1m deep for 30 minutes

INTEGRATED BMS AND SEPARATE ACTIVE BALANCER

The battery uses the latest Prismatic Cell design offering more resistance to vibrations and rough roads. It is supplied with a LiFePO4 Battery Management System BMS that can monitor and optimize each single prismatic cell during charge & discharge, to protect the battery pack from overcharge, over discharge & short circuit.

It also includes a 5A Active Balancer for greater cell balancing capabilities than the BMS is capable of. The BMS has cell balancing function with a 250mA Capacity, so the 5A balancer is 20 times more powerful than the BMS's internal balancing function to ensure your cells are never out of blance.

Overall, the BMS and Active Balancer helps to ensure safe and accurate operation of the battery.

*There are many calims about high cycles and while they are true to some extent the are misleading. 3500 cycle life @ 100% Depth Of Discharge at 100% capacity. This equates to draining the battery 100% every day 3500 times, (around 10 years) youre left with around 80% capacity remaining after which will do another few thousand cycles. So while a battery will do 6000 cycles it wont do it at 100% capacity after its initial cycle life.

163AH Lithium Battery Review

By: on 7 August 2024
I was looking to upgrade the battery in the tub of my ute from an AGM battery to a lithium battery to reduce weight and increase battery capacity as well as to have the ability to power a 2000W inverter to run high power loads such as a kettle and to occasionally run an induction cooktop on low power as well as power my car fridge on our holiday adventures. I went to The 12 Volt Shop to purchase some cable and after discussing the project, the staff suggested their 163AH small footprint lithium battery which was built for this exact purpose. It was the same physical size as the 85AH AGM battery I was replacing but 10kg lighter. They took me out to the workshop where they assemble the batteries and I was able to see the internals of one. As an electronics technician, I was impressed by the Jaibaida 200A Bluetooth enabled BMS, the matched “A” grade CALB aluminium prismatic LifePO4 cells and the size of the busbars and cables used to minimise volt drop internally. They also use a separate Heltec 5 amp active cell balancer PCB rather than the internal BMS cell balancer which operates at a lower current. The price of the battery was very competitive with other similar spec’d batteries from other suppliers and being locally made, support is always available. I ended up purchasing one of the batteries, however when I connected it up to my inverter and ran a load test (150A), I found after about 10 minutes, the temperature of the negative terminal was about 50 degrees and the terminal voltage was measuring 500mV lower than the BMS voltage readout which seemed excessive. I contacted the 12 Volt Shop and explained my concerns. They said bring it back. They explained it could be a poor internal connection and offered me a replacement battery or my money back. I took them up on the replacement and was glad I did. The new one under the same 150A load test had half the volt drop and the battery terminal temperature was warm, not hot. I have since finished the install in my ute and tested the 163AH battery with my Kettle (143 Amps) and induction cooktop (110 Amps) and it powered them without a problem. Overall I am impressed with the battery and the excellent customer service I received from The 12 Volt Shop.
