A battery charger or recharger is a device used to put energy into a secondary cell or rechargeable battery by forcing an electric current through it. The most important property of a battery charger is that it reaches the exact voltage during the charging cycle. If voltage is too high, the battery boils. The battery becomes unusable due to dried-out cells and crevice corrosion, which occur due to high acid concentration and overheating during charging. If voltage is too low, you end up with an incompletely charged battery that will lose more and more capacity until it gradually becomes unusable.
A power supply is an electronic device that supplies electric energy to an electrical load. The primary function of a power supply is to convert one form of electrical energy to another and, as a result, power supplies are sometimes referred to as electric power converters.

Recovery of deeply-discharged 'dead' batteries
Unlike other brands, the Blue Smart IP65 Charger will attempt to recharge a deeply-discharged battery by force-feeding it with a low current. Normal charging will then be resumed as soon as there is sufficient voltage across the battery terminals
Connect the battery with ease
The charger comes with both crocodile clips and M8 eyelets - making it easy to connect to the battery. If you wish, you can leave it permanently connected.

High efficiency
With up to 94% efficiency, these chargers generate up to four times less heat when compared to the industry standard. And once the battery is fully charged, power consumption reduces to 0,5 Watt, some five to ten times better than the industry standard.
Adaptive 6-stage charge algorithm: test - bulk - absorption - recondition - float - storage
The Blue Smart Charger features a microprocessor controlled ‘adaptive’ battery management. The adaptive feature will automatically optimize the charging process relative to the way the battery is being used.
Storage Mode: less maintenance and aging when the battery is not in use
The storage mode kicks in whenever the battery has not been subjected to discharge during 24 hours. In the storage mode float voltage is reduced to 2,2V/cell (13,2V for a 12V battery) to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to ‘equalize’ the battery. This feature prevents stratification of the electrolyte and sulfation, a major cause of early battery failure.
Also charges Li-ion (LiFePO4) batteries
LiFePO4 batteries are charged with a simple bulk - absorption - float algorithm.
Fully discharged battery recovery function
Will initiate charging even if the battery has been discharged to zero volts.
Will reconnect to a fully discharged Li-ion battery with internal disconnect function.
NIGHT and LOW setting
When in NIGHT or LOW mode, the output current is reduced to max. 50% of the nominal output and the charger will be totally noiseless. The NIGHT mode automatically ends after 8 hours. The LOW mode can be ended manually.
Protected against overheating
Output current will reduce as temperature increases up to 50°C, but the Blue Smart Charger will not fail.
Eleven LEDs for status indication
Charge algorithm: TEST / BULK / ABSORPTION / RECONDITION / FLOAT / STORAGE / READY.
MODE button to set: NORMAL (14,4V) / HIGH (14,7V) / RECONDITION / LI-ION.

Enerdrive ePOWER Battery Chargers
ePOWER Battery Charger Features:

Multistage Charging Process
The Enerdrive ePOWER Battery Charger is a fully automatic, “set and forget” charger. It is designed to quickly and accurately recharge your batteries using algorithms that help maximise service life. Multistage smart charging technology enables the charger to be connected to your battery banks permanently.
As dictated by battery manufacturer’s recommendations, batteries require a multistage charge sequence for perfect, fast and accurate charging. The ePOWER multistage smart 20A battery charger delivers four primary charge stages:-
- Stage 1 - Bulk or Boost Charge; The battery is charged at full rated output current of the charger until the battery reaches its final charging voltage, known as its absorption voltage. In this step, around 80% of the battery capacity is recovered as fast as possible.
- Stage 2 - Absorption Charge; With the charger voltage held steady the remaining 20% is replaced allowing the current to drop as the battery approaches its full charge.
- Stage 3 - Float; Finally, in the float stage the charger voltage is lowered and held at a constant and safe predetermined level. This prevents the battery from being overcharged while supporting any additional loads connected to the battery, such as DC lighting and refrigerators. This stage allows for the charger to be used as a DC power supply.
- Stage 4 - Maintenance; This stage is a regular timed “return to bulk” stage. After 7 days of constant operation in “float” the Enerdrive ePOWER Battery Charger will switch the charger from float to bulk to agitate the batteries electrolyte helping to provide an extended service life.

1 PRIORITY - Charge Where You Need it Most
The ePOWER Battery Charger delivers a priority charge to Bank 1, or your main house battery bank which allows the charger to get this bank recharged the quickest, then transition the cycle to the lesser bank 2 & 3 batteries.
The priority function also allows you to have a battery chemistry different to the other two, such as an AGM battery for house and lead calcium for your start banks.
In the event that all 3 banks are in need of a charge, an over-ride function helps recover all 3 banks quickly and evenly before switching back to prioritise on Bank 1.
All About Lithium
The recent advances in high capacity Lithium battery technology have seen the need to develop a battery charger suited to their needs. With most traditional ‘smart’ chargers their suitability to Lithium batteries is limited. Lithium batteries require a constant current / constant voltage charge algorithm and are unique in that almost every amp-hour of charge delivered by the charger is accepted as one amp hour into the battery, hence the need to deliver a constant current as long as possible.
The Enerdrive ePOWER charger can be programmed for Lithium batteries. This setting delivers the full rated output of the charger constantly with the charger switching to power supply mode once the voltage peak is met (indicating a full battery bank). The graph shows the ePOWER charger algorithm perfectly supporting Lithium battery requirements.
The Display Panel
The ePOWER 20A Battery Charger display gives you all the information you need for the operation of your charger. At a glance, key information such as charger amps, battery voltage and charge state continually alternate on the screen.When in float / power supply mode, the load amps are displayed so you can see exactly what the charger is doing. The display also allows you to program all settings of the charger, as well as activate the silent mode.
Silence when you need it - By pressing the “SEL” button for 5 seconds, the ePOWER Charger enters the ‘Silent’ mode that prohibits the fan from working. This ensures totally silent and safe operation at night, ideal if the charger is located close to your sleeping quarters. Silent mode limits current output to no more than 50%, and is programmed to remain on for 12 hours before automatically returning to a normal ‘fan-on & full output’ setting.

Dolphin Marine Battery Chargers
Dolphin marine battery chargers were developed by the French manufacturer Power First and launched in 1995. The first generation chargers, many of which are still in operation today, featured cutting edge design and technology and were quickly adopted by professional and leisure boaters alike.

Dolphin Pro HD+ Marine Battery Chargers
The DOLPHIN PRO HD+ battery charger is designed to perform as a battery charger / power supply for the demanding requirements of marine, oil & gas, offshore and other DC applications.
Customer typical application includes hydrographic and oceanographic vessels, workboats, supply boats, crane vessels, barge, high speed ferry, small cruise, fishing vessels, research vessels, coast guard vessels.
This Series of 24V marine chargers has been designed for commercial and offshore clients just like you, demanding the best certification in the marine sector. We obtained DNV-GL Marine Type Approval in 2015 to guarantee to our pro customers a perfect behavior of our products against constant, extreme vibrations and shock burden. Our DNVGL certification was successfully renewed in October 2019 for the 2019-2024 period. PRO HD+ is simply the best a pro can get. These chargers are available in three versions: 40A (115/230V), 60A (115/230V) and 100A (230V).
The DNV-GL type approval assures potential users that the DOLPHIN PRO HD+ has undergone rigorous testing and has been determined to meet the highest quality standards. The DNV-GL assessment process is built upon marine electrical engineer and recognized by shipyards, electrical sub-contractors, and major clients throughout the world.
To achieve DNV-GL’s approval, DOLPHIN PRO HD+ charger was tested by international recognised laboratories in accordance with the standard set out by IEC 60335-1 & IEC 60335-2-29, low temperature & vibration tests, Humidity / Damp heat tests in accordance with SfC No. 2.4 Class A.
Standard features include: multi-stage charging, low output ripple, temperature compensation, protection, control information with unique 2.5” Touch Led HMI display, Can Bus interface and alarms contact.
The new HD+ is the type-approved version of the Dolphin Pro for commercial and offshore applications. The Dolphin Pro HD+ range features:

CTEK was founded in 1997 and is a sister company of Creator Teknisk Utveckling AB (a leading design and development consulting firm), which was founded in 1982.
CTEK began developing its battery expertise as early as 1992, when a leading battery manufacturer hired Creator for battery research and development. The company was then hired to research a new system of battery chargers that would meet the charging and maintenance requirements of new generations of batteries.
The research and development programme ended when an American group purchased Creator's customer. ** Ripple denotes the amount of interference there is to the current and voltage. A high current ripple heats the battery and shortens its life. A linear charger has a current ripple of 70 - 400% which is much larger than the maximum 5% for a modern sealed battery. Voltage ripple could harm other equipment, which is connected to the battery. XC 800's ripple is <4%. The battery gains a long service life and there is no risk of damage to other electronic devices connected to the battery.

** The quality of the charging voltage and charging current is very important. A high current ripple heats up the battery which has an aging effect on the positive electrode. The MXT 4.0 is a cost-effective charger, suitable for smaller 24V batteries. The MXT 4.0 is ideal for maintenance charging of larger fleets with 24V vehicles, backup systems, piste machinery and wheelchairs, etc. The MXT 4.0 is equipped with all necessary features and functions to solve a broad range of battery related problems. The MXS 4.0 is a fully automatic 8-step charger that delivers 4A to 24V batteries from 8–100Ah and is suitable for maintenance charging up to 250Ah. The charger is IP 65 classified (splash and dust proof) and compatible with the electronics of a vehicle. It is non-sparking, reverse polarity protected and short-circuit proof. The MXS 4.0 is delivered with a 2-year warranty.
The MXT 14 is a professional 24V charger. It is developed for commercial vehicles where the batteries are put under considerable strain and is ideal for busses, trucks and CV workshops. The MXS 14 is equipped with all necessary features and functions to solve a broad range of battery related problems. It offers features such as battery diagnosis that shows if a battery can receive and retain a charge, a special reconditioning function that restores stratified and deeply discharged batteries, unique maintenance charging and a temperature sensor for optimised charging regardless of the weather conditions.
